What a lot of people don’t know is I was very depressed and overwhelmed during my second pregnancy. Adam was about 6 months old when we found out we were expecting our second baby. Different emotions went through my head but one that stood out and was more evident was my depression. I tried to keep it to myself as much as I could but then some days I just couldn’t and I would just vent out to my husband or mother. Trust me, we were excited about having another baby and Adam having a little brother/sister to play with, but we were too worried and scared to see it clearly then. Actually I think just me.
If you’re following me on instagram then you already know this but if you are not then let me start by saying I’m a stay at home mum 🙂
“So what do you do all day?” …
Is it just me or do all stay at home mums get asked that question ALOT? How do you answer it? What do you say? Does it get to you? Or do you just ignore it?
I can’t tell you how many times people told me “you must get diaper rash cream” when packing my hospital bags both times. I was lucky enough to never go through it with Adam as an infant, so whenever I would hear mums grieving about it, I couldn’t understand it because I just didn’t know what it was like or how terrible it was for little ones. Of-course all that changed with little madam.
At just 4 months Hana had a terrible rash. Hana hadn’t been herself and I didn’t know what was wrong.
Have you ever felt like you left the UAE for a little vacation when actually you haven’t? That’s how we felt during our weekend at Emirates Park Resort, located in Al Bahya. I must admit I did have very high expectations going there but that’s entirely because I had other Dubai/Abu Dhabi Hotels in mind like Atlantis, Madinat Jumeirah, St Regis etc when in reality there’s absolutely no comparisons. Emirates Park Resort is a resort connected to a zoo. It’s an experience; one I never thought we would have a chance to go through in Dubai/Abu Dhabi.
Where do I start.. when I held my baby boy for the first time I got knocked off my feet with indescribable feelings that only a first time father would understand. It’s almost like the rest of the world around you fades to black for that specific moment and you’re confused how it’s possible to have that much love and devotion for a person you met 5 seconds ago.
Seriously, whoever came up with the idea behind the LG Twin Wash is a genius! I love doing laundry but it’s such a pain when you have a small washing machine but a big dryer. That means you put the first load of clothes in the machine then put the second and only then you put both the loads in the dryer! Imagine how much time you would save with the Twin Wash! It also has a built in dryer! What else could you ask for?! Oh wait for it… it also connects to your phone – you can do laundry literally from anywhere!!
Seriously where did the time go? As Adam’s second birthday was approaching, I couldn’t help but get so emotional. He was my first! My first birth, my first baby, my first breastfeeding, my first teething; my first everything. He made me a mother. He changed my life completely in seconds and I thank him everyday for that.
If you ask me about my childhood, I can tell you I don’t remember my life before my brother. All my memories are with him and that’s what I hope Adam feels when he’s older. The gap between my brother and me is almost the same as Adam & Hana.
There’s no feeling that could compare to holding your little one for the first time after they’re born. It’s the beginning of a beautiful bond. Mothers are always encouraged to do skin to skin which has extraordinary benefits to both mum and baby. It’s creates a bond and makes the baby feel safe, amongst many other things. But what about the fathers? Shouldn’t the bond between them and their little one be as equally important?
There are two times of people in this world; people who have breakfast like there’s no tomorrow and people who have breakfast with lunch in mind. Me? I’m in between
We planned to go to Sikka Cafe for breakfast with my bestie Fattouma who is here from Sweden for just 7 days. Sikka Cafe is located in City Walk Jumeirah. As it says on their instagram page it’s “a locally curated concept, where delicious Emirati food meets Indian and Iranian influences”
